OUR SECURITY SERVICES

From the initial site assessment and system design through to professional installation, programming, testing and final commissioning, AJB Fire & Security provides one complete security solution. Our aim is to ensure every system is appropriate for the property, straightforward for the customer to operate and designed with consideration to the relevant British and European standards — providing dependable protection for people, property and premises

Intruder Alarms

We design intruder and hold-up alarm systems around the level of risk, layout and operational requirements of the premises. Systems can incorporate perimeter protection, internal detection, door contacts, keypads, audible warning devices and signalling for remote monitoring where required. Our systems are designed and installed with consideration to the BS EN 50131 series and PD 6662, the UK scheme for applying European standards for intrusion and hold-up alarm systems. Commissioning and ongoing support can also be undertaken with reference to BS 9263, which covers commissioning, maintenance and remote support of intruder and hold-up alarm systems.

Networking

At AJB Fire & Security, we design, install and commission professional networking and IT infrastructure to provide a reliable foundation for modern business technology, security systems and connected devices. From individual network points through to complete structured cabling installations, our solutions can include Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A structured cabling, fibre-optic backbone cabling, data outlets, patch panels, communications cabinets and racks, network switches, wireless access points and associated infrastructure. Every installation is carefully planned around the requirements of the premises, taking into consideration network performance, cable routes, capacity, resilience, future expansion and the equipment the network will support. Structured cabling installations are undertaken with consideration to relevant industry standards, including the BS EN 50173 series for generic cabling systems and the BS EN 50174 series covering the planning and installation of information technology cabling. Where applicable, consideration is also given to the BS EN IEC 61935 series for the specification and testing of balanced communication cabling. Following installation, cabling can be appropriately terminated, labelled and tested to help verify performance and provide a professional, organised infrastructure. Whether supporting everyday business IT, Wi-Fi connectivity, IP CCTV, access control, intercoms or other network-connected systems, AJB Fire & Security provides a complete service from initial design and cable installation through to testing and final commissioning, delivering dependable infrastructure designed to support your technology today while allowing for future growth.

Access Control

From standalone controlled doors through to networked multi-door systems, we provide access control solutions designed to give businesses greater control over who can enter specific areas and when. Solutions can include proximity cards, key fobs, PIN entry, electronic locking, door monitoring and integration with other security systems. Systems are designed and installed with consideration to the relevant requirements of the BS EN 60839-11-1 standard for electronic access control systems.

Remote Monitoring

Security does not have to stop when a property is unattended. Where required, our systems can be designed to transmit alarm or CCTV activations to a remote monitoring or Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), allowing events to be assessed and the appropriate response initiated in accordance with the agreed monitoring arrangements. Relevant industry standards include BS EN 50518 for monitoring and alarm receiving centres and BS 9518 for the processing of alarm signals by an ARC. Detector-activated remotely monitored CCTV may additionally fall within the requirements of BS 8418.

CCTV & Video Surveillance

We design CCTV systems to provide effective surveillance rather than simply installing cameras. Camera positions, image quality, lighting conditions, recording requirements, retention and the purpose of each camera are considered during the design process. Solutions can include fixed cameras, turret and dome cameras, IP systems, network video recorders, remote viewing and detection-activated surveillance. CCTV systems are designed with reference to the BS EN 62676 series, including BS EN 62676-4 application guidelines. Where detector-activated video surveillance is required, BS 8418 may also apply.

Gates and Barriers

We provide automated gate and vehicle barrier solutions for controlling access to commercial, industrial and residential premises. Safety is an integral part of the design and commissioning process, with consideration given to hazards including crushing, trapping, impact and shearing points, as well as appropriate safety devices and the environment in which the equipment will operate. Relevant standards include BS EN 12453 for the safety in use of power-operated doors, gates and barriers and BS EN 12604 for mechanical aspects. Importantly, the HSE advises that compliance with standards alone does not remove the need for a thorough, site-specific risk assessment and appropriate safety measures.
